Bookings For the Hyundai IONIQ 5 Now Open
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), announced that the bookings for the all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 5 are now open. Customers can book the e-SUV for ₹1 Lakh by visiting their website.
The Grand Reveal
As a first, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 was unveiled at the iconic Gateway of India in Mumbai. HMIL hosted a light show and a unique projection on the Gateway monument powered by three IONIQ 5 cars. The projections were a demonstration of the IONIQ 5’s vehicle-to-load(V2L) capability. Three of the five projectors were powered by the three cars on display. V2L will be able to power electronic or household equipment as well.
E-GMP
The IONIQ 5 is based on Hyundai’s born-electric E-GMP platform. It is Hyundai’s first car in India to be based on the E-GMP Platform. Hyundai’s E-GMP platform is based on four pillars – Modularity, Performance, Reliability, and Usability. The platform is flexible and supports multiple body types be it Sedans, Hatch, or SUVs. The chassis, battery, motor, and power electric system make up the E-GMP platform. The battery pack will be able to power electronic appliances as well with its bi-directional charging plug. The Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) charges both the high-voltage as well as the auxiliary battery.
Powertrain
The IONIQ 5 will be offered with two battery options – 58 kWh and 72.6 kWh, with a choice of either a single motor setup or a dual motor setup. The single motor setup will offer 167HP of power and 350Nm of torque. The top-spec model of the Ioniq 5 will be offered with a dual-motor setup and 72.6 kWh. This setup offers a power output of 298BHP and 605Nm of torque. This model is capable of going from 0 to 100 in just 5.2 seconds. It is based on the E-GMP platform which allows for both 400-volt and 800-volt charging.
