Hotels in Jermuk are 40 percent full after Azerbaijani attack
YEREVAN, November 7. /ARKA/. Hotels in Jermuk, Armenia’s most famous spa town 170 kilometers southeast of the capital Yerevan are now 40 percent full as the normal life in the town is being restored, Ararat Grigoryan, governor of Vayots Dzor region, where the spa town is, told the parliament today.
Jermuk was one of the targets of Azerbaijani troops that invaded Armenia’s sovereign territory on September 13. The majority of its residents, notably children and women, were evacuated. The Azerbaijani shelling damaged three guest houses, a children’s playground, an administrative building and a cable car line.
Speaking in parliament the governor said the flow of touristic is no longer the same as it was before, but ‘we have done a lot of work, and there are already holidaymakers in the town now."
According to him, only 15-20% of the citizens who were relocated to safer places after September 13 have not returned to Jermuk, the rest are back.
On September 13, 2022, Azerbaijan launched an unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Armenia. Using heavy artillery, multiple rocket launchers and combat UAVs, the Azerbaijani armed forces shelled 36 residential areas and communities, including towns of Goris, Jermuk, Vardenis, Kapan, Geghamasar deep within the sovereign territory of Armenia.
The Azerbaijani attack deliberately targeted civilian population and vital civilian infrastructures. According to official information, 207 Armenian citizens, both military personnel and civilians were killed and went missing, 293 servicemen were wounded -0-
